Our Science

PUREMIND® VR treatments are based on underlying psychotherapy treatments that have stood the test of time

The delivery of our treatments via immersive VR modules has been extensively and empirically tested. VR allows for controlled delivery of sensory stimulation, and immersive VR therapy can trigger subliminal changes that are more effective than face-to-face treatment alone. Practitioners are trained to observe client reactions during the VR sessions, providing an additional dimension to the diagnosis of issues and the development of treatments.

A wide range of applications

Studies have shown that many common addictions, afflictions and phobias are more effectively resolved with long-lasting results via well-designed VR treatments.

These range from depression, stress, anxiety, self-esteem and anger management disorders, to habits and addictions, such as smoking and drug abuse.

Psychotherapy and VR technology: made for each other

Psychotherapy, as it is known and practiced today, derives from Sigmund Freud.  It is sometimes referred to as the “talking cure”, whereby patients are encouraged to reflect upon themselves and, prompted by suggestions and ideas from a professional practitioner, make the subconscious conscious.

Psychotherapy derives from psychoanalysis, and a large range of perspectives that came later.  In different therapeutic traditions and different cultures around the globe, the practice of psychotherapy is accepted as an effective and trusted treatment option for patients with a multitude of behavioral issues and disorders.

Virtual Reality (VR)  technology can be defined as any device that involves a three-dimensional, computer-generated environment viewed through a head-mounted display. With smart phone technology has come the ability to track movements and project images through mobile devices fitted with head mounted displays.  VR technology is currently more affordable and accessible than ever before; available to people around the globe at work, at home, or on the move.

PUREMIND® treatments are based on tested VR applications of psychotherapy practice, combining therapy and technology in uniquely effective ways. Our results have been exceptional in the testing conducted to date.
